The present study aimed to evaluate clinical findings and histopathological lesions of the uterus and ovaries and emphasizes the diagnostic role of ovariohysterectomy in cats from Ahvaz region between October and February 2022. A total of Fifty-four cats, referred to the Veterinary Hospital, underwent ovariohysterectomy surgery. The Mean±SD age of the cats was 10.94 ± 0.74 months. In the macroscopic examination of the samples, except for three cases that were pregnant, all the other cases had normal structure and no specific clinical signs were observed prior to surgery. Histopathological findings identified uterine and ovarian lesions in five cats, including one case of cystic endometrial hyperplasia, one granulosa cell tumor, one uterine cyst with ovarian hemorrhage, one case of uterine and ovarian hyperemia with hemorrhage; and one case of uterine hemosiderosis. In the cat affected by cystic endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial cells were proliferated and cysts located in the endometrial mucosa; also, several large follicles and corpora lutea were seen inside the ovary. This lesion was classified as Grade I cystic hyperplasia according to the Dow classification. In the microscopic evaluation of samples with granulosa cell tumor, a mass of proliferating ovarian cells were observed. The mentioned cells were placed together in the form of a ladder. These cells were characterized by large nuclei with one to two prominent nucleoli and a small amount of cytoplasm. The present study, demonstrate that ovariohysterectomy can play an important role to diagnose pathological lesions of the uterus and ovaries in cats. The importance of diagnosis, is much greater, especially in the cases of tumors.
