Using spinal cord injury as a framework, this paper reviews some of the care considerations that gynecologists may consider when providing care for patients with physical disabilities. It describes disability in the context of its impact on patients seeking care, and the responsibilities of health care systems and providers. Providing equitable care requires respectful communication, avoidance of common biases, an accessible environment, and knowledge of secondary conditions and diagnostic overshadowing.
