Addyman Archaeology were commissioned by the National Trust to undertake a topographic survey of the castle field in order to plot the remains of the lime workings at Castle Point. The lime workings include limekilns (a scheduled ancient monument), a jetty and tramways. Other features associated with the lime workings include a quarry and additional tramways, but these are located outwith the castle field. The results of the topographic survey were used to assist with the interpretation of the development and functioning of the lime workings, which were owned and operated by a Dundee merchant (William Nicoll) from 1860 to 1883. These results were included in the Castle Point Lime Works Desk Based Assessment (also completed by Addyman Archaeology).
