In recent years, there has been a significant amount of discussion regarding artificial intelligence (AI) development and implementation strategies at the national level to make advancements in the usage and integration of this new-age technology across various sectors. This article aims to analyze the national AI strategy documents of five countries to gain insights into their key areas of focus concerning AI development and deployment. Furthermore, the national AI strategy of India was evaluated against the selected international AI strategy documents across the identified domains and sub-domains. Systematic content analysis of these documents revealed eleven key domains, including curriculum integration, teacher training and development, ethical considerations, inclusivity and accessibility, research and development, and integration of AI into various sectors. It was found that most strategic plans include discussions regarding the identified aspects with varying levels of emphasis. Moreover, the approaches adopted by different nations with respect to these aspects vary depending on their unique educational and economic priorities and national development goals. The identified domains and sub-domains could act as guidelines for nations seeking to establish a robust AI ecosystem.
