This phenomenological study purports to describe the expectations and frustrations of a select group of Filipino hospitality interns. Following Giorgi's analytical procedure, field texts gathered from 15 participants were phenomenologically reduced. The emerged Portrait of Hospitality Students' Expectations and Frustrations revolves around two domains, namely: the relational and technical skills which shape the overall success, understanding, and adjustment of the interns as future hoteliers. The interaction of the interns' expectations and frustrations afforded them to develop certain behaviours in response to the dynamics of their job assignment. This study can serve as anchors in closing the gap between students' expectations and reality of work.
