The average multiplicities (A) of prompt neutrons emitted in the spontaneous fission of ^252Cf and ^258Fm are derived. Two new features are predicted: A simple sawtooth for ^258Fm and a triple one for ^252Cf. Experiments to check these predictions should be feasible now.
