The achievements of Russian science in the study of natural-climatic, ecological, resource, socio-economic, infrastructural and ethno-national problems of the Arctic are well-known and indisputable. At the same time, there is a clear lack of this potential and its practical use in solving new Arctic problems. Examples of gaps in Arctic research are given, the causes and consequences of insufficient use of scientific developments in the state Arctic policy and in the country’s economy are discussed, several proposals for improving the situation are substantiated.
