At the time that Deborah Gibson and I performed our citation analysis of Physical Therapy (April 1986), Journal Citation Reports (JCR) of Science Citation Index had not yet published a “citing journal listing” for Physical Therapy.1 Since that time, JCR has begun including Physical Therapy as a citing journal. A comparison of the list of journals we cited and the 1984 JCR list1(pp1208–1209) shows considerable uniformity. Variations that do exist probably are the result of different listing criteria. Although our list soon may become dated, the JCR listing is updated yearly. In the future, therefore, the JCR list should provide clinicians and others with a better list of journals cited most often by authors published in Physical Therapy. For those seeking knowledge of journals potentially relevant to our profession, such a list may prove valuable. It already has proven so to me.
