A P-Q Coordination Method for Wind Farm to Mitigate System Frequency Deviation During LVRT Period

This paper proposes an active and reactive power coordination control strategy for wind turbine generators (WTGs) to reduce frequency deviation during the low voltage ride through (LVRT) period, in which a stator active current injection optimization is developed that can consider the LVRT reactive current constraint and the maximum stator current constraint. In this control strategy, the wake effect and detailed wind farm model are taken into consideration. Compared with the conventional LVRT control strategy of individual doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG), the proposed strategy can adaptively provide the active and reactive reference current based on an offline look-up table method to minimize the lack of active power generation and achieve faster active power recovery during the LVRT period. Finally, a test system with 4 synchronous generators (SGs) and 12 DFIG based on DIgSILENT-MATLAB platform is used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control.
