Plastics, which can be supplied cheaply and in large quantities, have made the world more convenient, but on the other hand, they have led to disposable use and increased environmental burden. The author decided to tackle this environmental issue starting from raw material development and created a venture based on modification technology. An example of the high-performance bioplastic PLA; named PlaX, developed based on polylactic acid, which has been developed so far, is introduced. It is hoped that this communication will gain widespread empathy and interest, contributing to the advancement of environmental measures for plastics.
