Artificial intelligence has become widely implemented in any organization’s daily operations, especially in the area of accounting as it assists in increasing efficiency and accuracy when working on various tasks as well as providing better results when analyzing data. In Saudi Arabia, AI adoption in industrial companies accounting systems plays a crucial role in the achievement of Vision 2030 since it aims at innovation, economic diversification, and sustainable development. This research assesses the role of AI in improving accounting systems and its impact on Vision 2030 sustainable development goals. The survey was conducted on 250 accountants and finance managers using quantitative questionnaires and 15 AI and accounting professionals using qualitative interviews. Information was also collected from annual reports of the companies and government documents. Descriptive statistics were conducted using the statistical tool SPSS and the qualitative data was conducted with thematic analysis. The study showed that AI implementation enhanced error minimization by 85%, reporting by 78%, and prediction by 67%. Some of the main issues were a lack of technical skills (59%) and high costs of implementation (52%). It was found that the use of AI has a positive relationship with the accomplishment of Vision 2030 economic and environmental objectives. The study also focuses on the challenges that need to be addressed to enhance the implementation of AI in the support of sustainable industrial development including employee training and infrastructure investment.
