Abstract

The first four moments of the Reynolds stress fluctuations uυ(t), and of velocity components u(t) and υ(t) were computed using digital data processing techniques. The results show that over a moderate range of Reynolds number 1900Reθ6500 (based on momentum thickness) Reynolds stress fluctuations are intermittent and strongly skewed, while the u and υ fluctuation components separately are not.
