This book deals with a real hot potato. It is not about the wider area of values in psychiatry, as I had naively expected, it is in fact about the importance of values in psychiatric classification and diagnosis. As the book points out, much in psychiatric diagnosis is actually about personal values, and so it is surprising how we don’t honestly and openly consider them.
