Rural Mississippi Community College Students’ Perceptions of Employability Skills

On a survey, 100 community college students rated 10 employability skills as being important and indicated that they possessed all of the skills. No difference existed between academic and career-technical students on skills perceived to be of greatest importance, while career-technical students reported a higher competence level on two skills. Finally, while academic students rated importance and competence equally, career-technical students rated their competence at a higher level than they did the skills’ importance.
