Within the last few years, several resource books on conditions peculiar to the aged have been published.Handbook of Geriatric Psychiatry, edited by Ewald Busse and Dan Blazer, is limited to a subdivision of geriatric knowledge where psychological, biological, and social information is necessary for reference and text purposes in the education of new students and practitioners. The combination of an older and a younger geriatrician as editors has produced an assertive, clear, and concise volume. Of the 26 contributors, almost half are from the Duke University Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development. The rest represent a variety of institutions, such as the Texas Research Institute of Mental Health Services, University of Washington, and universities in New York State, Chicago, and Tampa.
