This paper describes a driving simulator, primarily designed for use in behavioral studies at the Traffic Research Center in Groningen, The Netherlands. Topics of intended research with the simulator include perceptual and mental processing in traffic, driver cognitive modelling and applicability of Road Traffic Informatics (RTI) devices. Much effort has been invested inflexible methods for defining simulated environments, experimental scenarios and data collection and a number of specific software tools have also been developed for use with the simulator.
