ABSTRACT We report on the synthesis of the palladium(IV)‐containing hexatungstate Pd IV W 6 O 24 8− ( PdW 6 ) with a central 6‐coordinated Pd IV ion, which is surrounded by a ring of six edge‐shared WO 6 octahedra. The sodium salt of PdW 6 was structurally characterized in the solid state by multiple techniques, and the solution redox chemistry was investigated by electrochemistry. The catalytic hydrogenation of o ‐xylene using supported PdW 6 as a precatalyst was also studied.
