Bilingualism in early childhood has been widely studied in the fields of psycholinguistics, cognitive science, and education. This review synthesizes current research on how early bilingual exposure influences cognitive development and the acquisition of additional languages. Evidence suggests that bilingual children demonstrate enhanced executive functioning, phonological awareness, and metalinguistic skills, all of which contribute to more efficient foreign language learning. The paper argues that early bilingualism provides both cognitive and linguistic advantages that facilitate subsequent language acquisition.
