Key Points
To evaluate the efficacy of balloon-assisted transaxillary artery closure (BATAC) during TAVI procedures.
Conducted as a randomized controlled trial with participants undergoing TAVI via transaxillary access.
Participants were assigned to receive either conventional closure or the BATAC technique.
The study assessed complications and closure success rates.
BATAC resulted in a closure success rate of 95% compared to 80% with conventional methods (p=0.003).
Significantly fewer vascular complications were reported in the BATAC group (5% vs 15%, p=0.02).
Overall patient recovery time was shorter in the BATAC group with a median of 2 days compared to 4 days with conventional closure.
