For 66 adult smokers of mean age 41 yr. rated self-efficacy increased from pre- to posttreatment but decreased at 3 mo. posttreatment to a level higher than pretreatment. 18 abstinent subjects scored higher than those who relapsed. rs of self efficacy at three posttreatment times averaged .55 but were negligible with smoking status.
