Population

13 subjects: 7 patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) (mean age 52 ± 14 years, 4 female) and 6 healthy subjects (mean age 58 ± 4 years, 3 female).

Intervention

4D (3D+time) blood flow organization measurement using 3-directional, 3-dimensional cine phase-contrast-MRI

Comparator

Healthy subjects

Volume and distribution of separate flow components (direct flow/end-diastolic volume ratio and delayed ejection flow/end-diastolic volume ratio)surrogate

4D flow MRI demonstrates that normal LV blood flow organization is significantly altered in dilated cardiomyopathy, characterized by decreased direct flow and increased delayed ejection flow.
