Membrane Ion Channel Synapses In their Research Article (DOI: 10.1002/adma.202519525), Aleksandr Noy and co-workers report membrane ion channel synapses (MICS), artificial ionic synapses based on droplet interface junctions doped with biological ion channel Gramicidin A. MICS exhibits robust memristive behavior and synaptic plasticity and enables neuromorphic applications including associative learning and reservoir computing. In one application, researchers used MICS to play a board game of tic-tac-toe against an ideal opponent.
