As a basis of on-board passenger information and telemetry solutions for the operator, this solution could be a cost effective way to improve the quality of service of rail transportation. This paper describes the specialties of the vehicular environment and the proposed network model; it then presents a network lookup algorithm for automated enrolling and ordering the needed train units. Laboratory and field measurements are presented to validate the feasibility of this solution.
