The importance of puberty and adolescence as a critical period is becoming more and more recognized. There have been many important contributions to the subject, but the two volumes of the present work constitute by far the most elaborate and complete study that has yet appeared. The author, moreover, believes that he has opened a new line in his genetic ideas of the soul, which pervade the work and "mark an extension of evolution into the psychic field" that is of the utmost importance.
