Beekeeping, or apiculture, is an important farming practice that helps protect biodiversity, support sustainable farming, and make money from pastoral development. Honey bees are some of the best pollinators in both natural and man-made ecosystems. They are very important for getting more food from plants and making the quality of fruit, vegetable, and oilseed plants better. Honey bees are very important for the world's food supply and the health of the environment. Beekeeping has become a viable agricultural job in India that can help pastoral communities make money. Beekeeping doesn't cost much, and it's easy to do with other types of farming. Beekeeping produces valuable goods that are useful for business and health, such as propolis, royal jelly, pollen, and beeswax. The Indian government has initiated several programs to promote beekeeping, such as mindfulness juggernauts, money for beekeepers, and training programs. These companies aim to produce more honey and create employment opportunities for people living in rural areas. Educational institutions play a crucial role in advancing the practice of apiculture by offering practical training, researching, and encouraging entrepreneurship among the youth. This exploratory paper examines the role of apiculture in teaching individual’s new skills, engaging in pastoral business, and practicing sustainable farming. It also highlights how sodalities and universities can contribute to promoting apiculture and supporting the public development vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
