Higher education institutions (HEIs) are the foundational engines for achieving Viksit Bharat 2047, serving as hubs for economic growth, technological innovation, and social development. By 2047, they are expected to transform India into a global knowledge leader by producing a skilled, innovation-driven, and equitable society. As India marches toward its centenary of independence in 2047, the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) hinges significantly on its transition into a global knowledge superpower. This research paper examines the pivotal role of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) as the primary engines of this transformation. The study analyzes how the shift from "Knowledge Power" to "National Power" is facilitated through strategic academic interventions, robust research ecosystems, and the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Also It looks at how recent policy changes, especially the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, have affected things, and it lays forth a plan for how to make higher education better, more open to everyone, and a world leader.
