Alder Archaeology Ltd. Were asked to document the findings of 16 evaluation trenches excavated on the site of a proposed new primary school building at Braco, Perth and Kinross (AH05). The site is situated 160m Southwest of Ardoch Roman Fort (scheduled ancient monument SM1601). The evaluation was devised to sample 10% of the proposed site area (6440m2), and to establish the presence/absence, date, character, and quality of any previously unrecorded archaeological remains associated with the site or related to the nearby scheduled monument. The evaluation trenches found only modern utilities and land-drains running approximately East/West, which were cut into brown sandy loam topsoil and red/brown natural sandy loam with glacial sandstone pebbles and cobbles. No artefacts were recovered. The trenches were recorded, EDM surveyed and backfilled. The watching brief took place between 25th and 27th of April 2022 and was commissioned by Perth and Kinross Council.
