The journey toward inclusive employment for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in India is both vital and challenging. Despite the existence of progressive laws like The Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016, which aims to ensure a 4% reservation in public sector jobs and promote inclusivity in the private sector, many PWDs still find themselves on the sidelines of the workforce. This paper explores the current employment landscape for PWDs in India, shedding light on employment rates, sectoral disparities, and the critical role of accessibility in workplaces. It evaluates how effective existing legislation has been and identifies the gaps that hinder real progress. By examining barriers such as workplace inaccessibility, employer biases, and mismatched skills, this study aims to provide actionable recommendations for fostering a more inclusive labor market. Ultimately, the findings highlight the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders to bridge the employment gap and create equal opportunities for PWDs in India.
