An archaeological watching brief conducted over a single day in November 2025. The works monitored consisted of excavations for a pathway and a new area of slabs to be installed in front of the church porch. The monitoring was also designed to record the state of the church wall and gate before alterations were made, although in practice this did not take place. Archaeological excavation at Edlingham Church revealed little of archaeological interest. The clearance of gravel and vegetation from outside the front porch revealed a large stone slab, potentially of some age. A single piece of simply decorated building stone likely constitutes a piece of 14th century window tracery from the nave's south wall window, discarded during 19th or 20th century restoration. The line of the path proved to be substantially disturbed, with modern debris present in the soil. No pieces of disarticulated bone were recovered.
