Digital governance and e-democracy have become important parts of public administration in India. The increasing use of digital technology has changed the way government services are delivered and how citizens participate in democratic processes. Programmes such as Digital India, online public service portals, digital grievance systems, e- voting awareness, and social media communication have made governance faster, more transparent, and more accessible. These initiatives help reduce corruption, improve accountability, and strengthen the connection between the government and the people. E- democracy also encourages citizens to take part in decision-making through online feedback, public discussions, and access to government information. However, challenges such as poor internet access in rural areas, lack of digital literacy, cybersecurity threats, and privacy concerns still affect the success of digital governance. This paper studies the role of digital governance in improving public administration and promoting citizen empowerment in India. It also examines the opportunities and challenges of e-democracy in creating a more inclusive and participatory democratic system.
