EXPRESSION OF CONCERN: Y. Liu, J. M. Hock, R. J. Van Beneden, and X. Li, “Aberrant Overexpression of FOXM1 Transcription Factor Plays a Critical Role in Lung Carcinogenesis Induced by Low Doses of Arsenic,” Molecular Carcinogenesis 53, no. 5 (2014): 380–391, https://doi.org/10.1002/mc.21989. This Expression of Concern is for the above article, published online on 19 December 2012 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), and has been issued by Wiley Periodicals, LLC. The Expression of Concern has been issued following concerns raised by a third party after publication regarding the similarity of certain blots in Figure 3D, compared with another article published later by a similar author group 1. These similarities cannot be explained in scientific or experimental context. Upon further examination, certain blots in Figure 5A also display similarity and appear to have been reversed to describe the same substance in the later publication. The authors were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation and could not supply the original data due to the time that has elapsed since the experiments were conducted. Although the conclusions in this article are not believed to be affected, the journal was unable to determine whether any research misconduct had occurred. Therefore, the journal has decided to issue this Expression of Concern to inform and alert readers.
