This conceptual research preprint examines Magnifica Humanitas, the 2026 encyclical of Pope Leo XIV on safeguarding the human person in the time of artificial intelligence, through the exploratory stewardship posture of the Architecture of Limitation (AoL). The purpose is not to validate the encyclical through AoL, to validate AoL through theological resonance, or to adjudicate Catholic doctrine. Nor does the paper assume that structural similarity between AoL and the encyclical establishes shared ontology, philosophical equivalence, or common foundations. The inquiry asks a narrower question: What becomes visible when a theological artefact that explicitly treats limitation, technological power, opacity, responsibility, truth, human dignity and artificial intelligence is placed under finite-observer pressure? The strongest contact surface emerges around limitation itself. Magnifica Humanitas resists the treatment of human limitation as mere defect and warns against a technocratic paradigm in which fullness is equated with reducing weakness, eliminating uncertainty and exerting total control. AoL independently treats limitation as structurally constitutive rather than merely obstructive. This produces significant adjacency, but also considerable pressure. Not every limitation is good. Suffering must not be romanticized. Human dignity cannot be derived from structural limitation alone. The theological anthropology of the encyclical cannot be silently imported into AoL. The paper develops a further pressure around the finite observer. Contemporary AI systems may produce highly legible outputs while their evidential, computational, developmental and institutional conditions remain only partially inspectable by the human observer. The resulting danger is not merely error. It is the transfer of epistemic weight from systems whose apparent reach may exceed the observer's capacity to inspect the grounds of their authority. This leads to a proposed AoL hypothesis: AI governance is partly the governance of transferable epistemic weight under finite observation. The word partly is essential. Governance does not possess truth as a total standpoint, nor does the finite observer escape epistemic dependence. AI governance also includes rights, labour, safety, environmental cost, market power, political legitimacy, discrimination, security and law. The present paper isolates one pressure surface within that wider field: how trust, reliance, belief and consequential action are carried when access remains incomplete. The paper develops pressure surfaces, admissibility constraints, conditional propositions, narrowing conditions, philosophical adjacencies and a bounded operational contact with current AoLOS experimentation. AoLOS is not presented as a solution to the problem. Its experimental relevance is narrower: some of its present methods attempt to make evidence boundaries, claim limits, repeated variance and stewardship responsibility more inspectable within declared conditions. No theological closure, general theory of AI governance, validation of AoL, or certification of AI trustworthiness is claimed. This work forms part of the broader Architecture of Limitation / AoLOS research program. The corpus investigates reasoning systems under structural constraint and is maintained as an evolving open research program through the Zenodo archive. Recent publications extend the program beyond architectural and diagnostic investigation toward operational architecture, instrumentation, cognitive compatibility, and open research collaboration under shared constraint conditions.
