Abstract

Before Behavior Appears is White Paper No. 4 in The Codex System white paper series. It advances a structural model of pre-behavior human function by examining what may already be occurring in the body before behavior becomes visible. The paper distinguishes three non-interchangeable upstream architectures: Body Load Architecture (BLA), which addresses the individual structural route through which physical load is carried and compensated for; Signal Regulation Override (SRO), which examines regulatory design, changing activation and the cost of processing signal under continuing demand; and Signal Bridge Architecture (SBA), which identifies persistent communication relationships capable of continuing an earlier physiological response after wider conditions have changed. Codex Autonomic Physiology (CAP) is defined as the observable physiological expression of the body’s current routing state. The paper proposes a sequence in which structural load, regulatory strain and persistent communication may shape physiological organization, which in turn influences movement availability, behavior and practical consequence. A central contribution is the psychosomatic causal reversal: psychological explanation may accurately describe an experience while still beginning downstream of the physiological condition from which behavior emerges. The paper also introduces the Contained Human as the accumulated consequence of a life increasingly organized around bodily management, compensation and reduced movement availability.
