The article is divided into two sections. The first section, "The Connotation of Power", clarifies my understanding and definition of the concept of power. I propose that power should be more precisely formulated as the capacity of certain individuals or groups to control the behavior of one or more other individuals by manipulating their consciousness. The second section, "The Origin of Power", first identifies two fundamental prerequisites for power formation—sociotaxis(社会学趋性) and consciousness—as well as the critical condition for large-scale power emergence: non-cooperative game theory. It then briefly explores the mechanisms of power formation and the principles underlying the origin of state power.
