Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), affecting women of menstruating age. Characterised by a range of symptoms of variable severity, the condition has the potential to affect work, relationships and general wellbeing. Despite research, the condition remains poorly understood. This article aims to improve knowledge and understanding of PMDD among nurses and non-medical prescribers, enabling them to feel more confident in advising patients presenting with this condition.
