Youth in urban Mauritius face unique challenges and opportunities that influence their political participation. A mixed-methods approach combining in-depth interviews with structured surveys to gather both qualitative insights into individual narratives and quantitative data on participation patterns. Youth who strongly identify with their urban culture are more likely to participate politically, with a proportion of 45% expressing active engagement compared to 30% among those with weaker cultural ties. The study reveals that integrating identity into political discourse can enhance youth political participation in Mauritius and suggests strategies for policymakers.
