Urbanization in Tanzania has been rapid, leading to a significant increase in informal settlements where social welfare provision is often inadequate. This article employs a qualitative analysis of existing literature and conceptual frameworks from sociology, geography, and public policy to construct the theoretical model. The proposed framework highlights the need for integrated urban planning that prioritizes infrastructure and service provision to improve living conditions in these areas. Urban planners and policymakers should prioritise investment in social welfare programmes tailored to the needs of informal settlements to enhance residents' quality of life.
