This poster presents an ongoing research project that examines the representation of Ukraine in comics from 1991 to the present, with a particular focus on both national and international perspectives. The project explores how comics function as a medium of cultural production and communication within a broader media ecosystem, shaping and reflecting perceptions of Ukraine across different historical and geopolitical contexts. The research is structured around a comparative approach, analysing thematic patterns, narrative strategies, and key interpretative frameworks in Ukrainian and international comics. Special attention is given to the shifting visibility of Ukraine in global media, the role of historical memory, and the interplay between identity construction and trauma framing in visual narratives. Rather than presenting final results, the poster outlines the conceptual framework, research questions, and methodological approach of the project. The poster was prepared for the presentation at the Philipp Schwartz Forum 2026 in Berlin.
