This review examines the floristic diversity and ecological significance of Gujarat’s university campuses. It evaluates how institutional lands serve as urban green islands to mitigate the infrastructure-biodiversity trade-off caused by rapid urbanization. The study synthesizes data from multiple floristic investigations using methods such as Quadrat Sampling, Raunkiaer's Life-Form spectrum, Phytosociological Analysis, and modern Cyber-taxonomy (digital documentation). Research indicates that institutional campuses are frequently home to between 100 and 800+ vascular plant species. Gujarat University, which is located in a semi-arid area, is home to 3,379 individuals of 60 different tree species, the majority of which belong to drought-resistant families like the Fabaceae and Poaceae.
