The incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into educational systems—known as AI in Education (AIEd) — has become essential in contemporary educational environments, facilitating customised learning, automated evaluations, and improved analytics. Nonetheless, its swift integration raises important ethical issues regarding bias, privacy, transparency, accountability, and its overall impact on the learning experience. This paper reviews and consolidates the core ethical frameworks proposed for AIEd, pinpointing essential principles and shared concerns, and recommends a robust, human-centred governance model to ensure that AI technologies enhance human potential and uphold the vital educational values of equity, justice, and human dignity. Finally, the paper recommends policy measures to ensure that AI systems in education align with educational principles and human rights.
