This skills audit was conducted within the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) to support the organisation's commitment to developing a skilled and capable workforce. This initiative aligns with broader national directives, including the call in the State of the Nation Address to professionalize the public service and achieve the goals of the National Development Plan (NDP) 2030. The primary objective of this skills audit is to assess the current skills profile of the Construction Project Management (CPM) Branch, identify key skills gaps and training needs relative to its critical mandate of delivering the department's infrastructure projects, and provide recommendations for targeted skills development interventions. This audit focused on staff at the Middle Management Service (MMS) and Senior Management Service (SMS) levels within the CPM Branch. The data was collected using a customized survey administered via an online platform between February and March 2025. A total of 121 officials provided complete responses, resulting in a response rate of 54%. While this provides a large and valuable sample, the findings should be interpreted as being strongly indicative of the skills landscape, acknowledging that the views of the non- responding officials are unknown. It must be noted that this executive summary contains only a fraction of the nuanced analysis detailed in the full report.
