We analyze the business case for using 3D VSP recorded using fiber optic Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) to monitor water flood or EOR developments in deepwater, frequently and cost-effectively. We apply recently developed valuation methods to analyze the cost vs. benefit of using frequent DAS VSP by itself or in conjunction with infrequent OBN surveys. We discuss how to further increase value by enlarging the area covered or reducing the survey cost. We conclude that DAS VSP could provide much needed and affordable on-demand monitoring, especially as the applicable base multiplies with the advent of fiber optic installations in subsea wells.
