In networked microgrids (NMGs), long-distance lines and the random fluctuations of renewable energy sources (RESs) cause the voltage at the head and end node to be prone to high/low voltage violations. To address this issue, this paper introduces a novel projection-based distributed double-layer voltage control method for NMGs. The proposed method can establish voltage safety boundaries through projection operators after calculating the distributed consensus control references. The incorporated projection operators can ensure that the incremental input of the distributed controller quickly decreases to zero as the voltage moves towards the predefined boundaries. Additionally, the control interaction between the double layers in NMGs is also discussed in this work. An independent model for microgrids (MGs) with clear physical meanings is developed to eliminate the need for a time-decoupling design. The overall stability of the double-layer control system is verified using the Lyapunov method, and the proposed strategies are validated through MATLAB/Simulink tests and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) experiments.
