Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) constitute one of the most ancient and rich intellectual traditions in the world. Evolving over thousands of years, these systems encompass a wide range of disciplines, including philosophy, mathematics, medicine, astronomy, linguistics, education, governance, agriculture, and environmental stewardship. Originating from the Vedic tradition and continuously enriched through interactions with diverse cultural and intellectual currents, IKS has made enduring contributions to global knowledge and civilization. In recent years, growing concerns about environmental sustainability, cultural preservation, and the limitations of purely modern approaches have revived interest in indigenous knowledge traditions. This article explores the historical development of Indian Knowledge Systems, highlights their key dimensions, and examines their significance in the contemporary world.
