The purpose of this book is to explain what planners and local officials in the United State can learn from the sustainable cities movement in Europe. The book draws on the extensive European experience by examining the progress and policies of twenty-five of the most innovative cities in eleven European countries. The book focuses on the key lessons from these cities and what their experience can teach the United States about effectively and creating promoting sustainable development.
