Among the RNA's transcribed from λ b2i21c DNA by a purified preparation of Escherichia coli RNA polymerase is a discrete 6 S species demonstrable by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis or sucrose density gradient sedimentation. The nucleotide sequence of this RNA is pppApCpGpAp UpGpGpGpUpUpApApUpUpCpGpCpUpCpGpUpUpGpUpGp GpUpApGpUpGpApGpApUpGpApApApApGpApGpGpCpGp GpCpGpCpUp(Up,ApCp)UpApCpCpGpApCpGpUpApUpCpGp UpCpApCpUpUpCpGpApUpUpCpCpGpCpCpUpApGpUpUp GpGpUpCpUpGpGpApApCpUpCpApApCpCpCpApUpCpGp Cp ApGpGp(CpApGpCpGp)CpApGpApGpApGpGpUpCpUpGpCp ApApApApUpGpCpApApUpCpCpCpGpApApApCpApGpUpUp CpGpCpApGpGpUpApApUpApGpUpUpApGpApGpCpCpUpGp CpApUpApApCpGpGpUpUpUpCpGpGpGpApUpUpUpUpUp UpA. This sequence contains three ApUpGp triplets, one of which precedes and is separated by 41 triplets from the hexanucleotide UpApApUpApGp. The sequence permits formulation of extensive regions of base pairing between terminal and internal sequences.
