Abstract
Xanthine oxidase has been prepared contakng chemically modified FAD analogs of varying oxidationreduction potential bound at the flavin site of the enzyme.These derivatives have been used to test the hypothesis that the oxidation-reduction-active sites of xanthine oxidase are in a rapid equilibrium with one another and that the distribution of electron density among them is determined solely by their relative oxidation-reduction potentials (Olson, J.
