Abstract Studies show that many entering engineering students are deficient in 3D spatial visualization skills. In the fall of 1993, a course was developed at Michigan Technological University to introduce freshmen to 3D spatial visualization through the use of visual aids and computer modeling. This article describes the computer exercises which were developed to aid in the development of the 3D visualization skills of these students.
