This book represents a précis of current knowledge of epidemiologic methodology directed to radiologists, surgeons, pathologists, and public health workers—who possess the raw data needed to contribute meaningful epidemic information about cancer, but lack "know-how." Techniques of developing "hypotheses from clinical observations or from statistical association between specific forms of cancer and population characteristics derived from an analysis of population morbidity and/or mortality statistics" are described. About one third of the text is devoted to statistical procedures.
