However, sufficient data were not available to allow for any meaningful analysis of cognitive impairment risk by AF subtypes. Fourteen studies reported the association between AF and cognitive impairment in a broad population, but only 2 reported the type of AF as either chronic (1) or paroxysmal or chronic (2).
